Author Interview – Elizabeth Lennox on the series, sheiks, and what’s coming next!
What inspired you to write The War, Love, & Harmony series?
I wanted to write a sheik series, and I was trying to come up with an idea that would serve as a motive for a group of rulers to need to find a wife and produce an heir. The idea that they would do so to satisfy a mutual peace agreement occurred to me, and I decided to pull on that thread. As I considered it further, I came up with the notion of their predecessors having fallen in love with women that they weren’t supposed to, creating a conflict between nations that would need to be resolved with a peace treaty. Perhaps it was a bit wicked of me to create a war to serve as a driving force for romance, but I was always focused on the love stories between the main characters and the happy ending that I envisioned for all.
What about writing sheik stories appeals to you?
In my imagination, sheiks are the ultimate alpha male. They are powerful, rich, and confident men who are used to getting what they want. I love the opportunity to write a strong female character who challenges and provokes the sheik, while at the same time softening his hard edges, demanding his respect, and winning his heart.
Have you ever traveled to a country were sheiks exist?
No, I haven’t – my sheiks are all completely fictional and the pure products of my imagination! I love to travel and perhaps someday I will experience one of those cultures first hand. In the meantime, I will claim poetic license.
What new books do we have to look forward to after this series?
There will be a two book series about a pair of sisters in September and October, and then I am writing a series about a group of boarding school friends for the fall and winter!
